Reality TV fame often comes with a spotlight that never dims, even when the headlines turn dark. Katie Salmon, known for her appearance on Love Island in 2016, has been found guilty of assault after a violent incident left her victim with severe injuries, including two black eyes and clumps of missing hair.

The verdict was delivered on July 11, 2025, at Northampton Crown Court. This marks a dramatic fall from grace for the influencer, who made history as part of the show’s first same-sex couple.

The Incident That Shocked the Court

What started as a confrontation escalated into a brutal attack. Jyssica Memory, the victim, thought she was meeting her longtime partner, Anthony “Harry” Kelly, to begin a new life in Thailand. Instead, she was ambushed by Salmon and two accomplices. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic: Salmon allegedly hit Memory with a hairdryer and stiletto shoe while yelling,

“Did you really think you’re going to Thailand with my husband?”

Memory curled defensively on the ground, faced punches and kicks “seven to ten times,” according to testimony. Her belongings were scattered across the street, and her injuries were serious enough to leave her temporarily blinded from swelling.

Salmon’s Defense and the Jury’s Swift Decision

Salmon claimed self-defense, saying she was “frightened for [her] life” during the fight. She pointed to a split lip that required seven stitches as proof of her own injuries. However, prosecutors refuted her argument, highlighting the victim’s passive position and the absence of photographic evidence to back Salmon’s claims.

The jury took just one hour to decide on a guilty verdict. Judge Philip Head warned Salmon about possible jail time before her sentencing on September 15, reminding her that assault causing actual bodily harm can result in a maximum five-year sentence.

A Troubled Backstory: Grief, Faith, and a Fractured Relationship

The assault case is layered with personal tragedy. Salmon’s ex-fiancé, Harry, died by alleged suicide earlier this year, leaving her to raise their two-year-old daughter on her own. In January, she shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, writing,

“Trying to navigate this pain… I hope your soul finds peace.”

Her recent shift towards religion has also drawn public interest. In TikTok videos, she credited God for her “peace,” stating she’d left a “six-figure business” to embrace faith. Followers praised her “glow,” but the assault conviction has since overshadowed her spiritual transformation.
